Announcing Pillar of Freedom

In the culture war, there is a new Seventh-day Adventist voice, proclaiming the old truth that the union of church and state will usher in a new dark age. We proclaim freedom in the spirit of Roger Williams, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Geo. Washington, and many more of our founding fathers.

Separation of Church and State imperiled

In its newly released draft report, the Presidential Religious Liberty Commission addressed numerous critical issues that should be of concern for citizens of the United States, as well as all the inhabitants of the world, as the United States commonly sets the standard for freedom that other nations aspire to. At its core, the report is an attempt to weaken and dismantle the separation of church and state, which will inevitably result in religious persecution. However, YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. The draft report is open to public comment before it is adopted. Comments can be made by email through July 12, 2026. [email protected]The key recommendations of concern would create:
1. Financial support for religious, faith based non-profits
2. Financial support for religious education
3. Politicization of Churches and Religious non-profits by repealing the Johnson Amendment.
4. Singling out one religion for special government protection
5. Indoctrination of Americans in the ideology of the Commission.
To make a comment, you should first familiarize yourself with the report. The Executive Summary fails to mention some of the reports central recommendations. Next, download and read our Response Guide. Read our response to the report, as well as other people's responses that we will post here. Finally, write your response and send it before July 12.Your heartfelt response matters. The more people that object to the report, the harder it will be for the Administration to ignore us. It is time for everyone to stand for freedom. To do nothing is to be defeated. As Benjamin Franklin said, "We must all hang together, or most assuredly we will all hang separately."

Announcing Pillar of Freedom

Pillar of Freedom is a religious liberty non-profit. It was formed in 2025 to advocate for the religious liberty principles that the United States of America was founded upon. At Pillar of Freedom, we believe that a right understanding of the principle of religious freedom is necessary for understanding the character of God, and His desire for His followers to be free to render Him love and devotion based upon their own free will and not coercion. Pillar of Freedom believes that any union of church and state only ever leads to false worship and oppression. Pillar of Freedom is opposed to any formulation of religious liberty that favors one group over another or would in any way legislate the first table of the Decalogue, while at the same time recognizing that God expects humanity to adhere to the principles of the second table of the decalogue, which is freely ascertainable through conscience and reason, as testified to by Paul in Romans 1 and 2. Pillar of Freedom also believes that as we near the end of earth's history, there is a spiritual battle raging, and that the final spiritual battle will be a contest over religious liberty, specifically a contest between the receiving the mark of the beast through coerced worship or remaining free and true to Christ by keeping the commandments of God, as outlined in Revelation 13 and Three Angeles of Revelation 14.

Pillar of Freedom was founded by Jonathan Zirkle. Mr. Zirkle is a Seventh-day Adventist, a trial attorney and a passionate advocate for religious liberty.

Donations

"I perceived Reverend Whitefield intended to finish with a collection, and I silently resolved he should get nothing from me. I had in pocket a handful of copper money, three or four silver dollars, and five pistoles in gold. As he proceeded I began to soften, and concluded to give the coppers. Another stroke of his oratory made me ashamed of that, and determined me to give the silver; and he finished so admirably, that I emptied my pocket wholly into the collector's dish, gold and all.” -- Benjamin Franklin when responding to the preaching of George Whitefield, apostle of the First Great Awakening.Like Franklin, you may find that religious liberty asks more of you than you first intended.
